The Amazon basin is the part of South America drained by the Amazon River and its tributaries. The Amazon drainage basin covers an area of about , or roughly 40 percent of the South American continent. It is located in the countries of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.

Als Amazonasbecken (port. Bacia do rio Amazonas), Amazonastiefland oder Amazonien wird das Einzugsgebiet des Amazonas, des Rio Anapu und des Rio Tocantins bezeichnet. Es bedeckt fast die gesamte nördliche Hälfte des Kontinents Südamerika. Der Amazonas hat weltweit mit Abstand die größte Wasserschüttung (siehe „Abfluss“ in der Liste der längsten Flüsse der Erde).
